Gerhard Ablasser holds an academic degree of Architectural Engineering from the Technical University of Graz and joined the Municipality of Graz in 1989. There he started to work in the office of the vice-mayor implementing projects like “Space for People” and “City-wide Speed Limit 30/50” before he changed to the former Department of Urban Development and Town Preservation. At the present he is Head of Unit of EPICU. He has been contributing to several EU-programmes and projects, like CIVITAS TRENDSETTER, CIVITAS CATALIST, URBAN I, UPP e.l.m.a.s. with a focus on urban mobility, environment, city development and historic town measures. Besides he represents the City of Graz in a number of international meetings targeting these topics as well as in the Monitoring Committee of URBACT and in the Board of CIVINET.
